Who We Are, What We Do
The West Kootenay Naturalists Association encourages insights into nature through group outings, educational presentations, conservation efforts and scholarship sponsorship. Members are enthusiasts of the observation and study of plants, birds and other animals, geology, meteorology, mycology, all the rest, and how it fits together. The West Kootenay is a heavily forested region of mountains, glaciers, fast rivers, large lakes and extensive wildlife in British Columbia's Southern Interior. The centre of our activity is in the city of Castlegar but members are drawn from Rossland, Trail, Nelson and beyond. Check out our newsletter The Osprey for photos and reports on our outings, events and nature news. Upcoming Public Events: Saturday, Dec 2, 2023: We'll have a table set up outside the Christmas Market at Taghum Hall from 10am to 3pm. Come by to say hello. 2024 memberships are on sale now!
